All BER’s acoustic panels have been tested in accordance with DIN EN 11654 (sound absorption in buildings) and assigned to the various sound absorber classes – A,B,C,D,E.
But the highest sound absorber class (A) does not mean that this is the best. Each sound absorber class can be suitable for a particular application and a combination of sound absorber classes can provide the answer to acoustic problems in many different situations. The selection of sound absorber types will depend on the area concerned. Balanced room acoustics also require the reflection of sound waves, therefore BER also manufactures all of its panels in a sound-reflecting form, and these are not classified. You will find more information about how the weighted sound absorption is determined in the planning folder for architects that can be purchased here.
Classification of an absorber:
A : 0,90 … 1,00 αw
B : 0,80 … 0,85 αw
C : 0,60 … 0,75 αw
D : 0,30 … 0,55 αw
E : 0,15 … 0,25 αw
not classified : 0,00 … 0,10 αw
